> This was my fundraising page for California AIDS Ride 6, June 1999. But, the ride's over! While others prepare for CAR7, I'm putting together a synopsis of my CAR6 experience. Click here!

I've made a commitment...
Will you join me?

In June 1999, I'll take seven days out of my life to ride a recumbent bicycle 560 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles with over 2600 other people in the sixth annual California AIDS Ride, benefiting the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. But the AIDS Ride is more than a fund-raiser, since it increases AIDS awareness and changes lives by empowering people and providing hope to those in need.

I've agreed to raise at least $2500 in pledges between now and May 11 (the deadline for pledges to count toward my commitment). Would you please make a pledge to help me to meet or exceed this goal? When deciding how much to contribute, please keep in mind how far I'm riding, the commitment I've made, and how long I'll have to train for this event! (I'm certainly not made out of muscle, but I'm determined to make it to Los Angeles!)

Over 390,000 Americans have died of AIDS in the last 17 years--this is over six times the number of fatalities in the Vietnam War. It is estimated that over 1,000,000 additional Americans are currently infected with HIV, and another 40,000 (including 10,000 teenagers) are expected to become infected this year. Please join me in supporting the efforts of the SF AIDS Foundation to provide vital services to people in need, as well as community outreach programs aimed at AIDS prevention.

You can help in any of the following ways:

  • Make a pledge! And when you do, please send me e-mail with the amount of your pledge so I can keep track. Please also read the Important Note to Donors that appears on the back of the standard forms. (If you have trouble printing the form, I'll be glad to send you a form if you e-mail me your postal address.)
  • Ride with me! If I can do it, then I'm sure you can too.
  • Join the ride as a crew member! Crew members take care of just about everything during the ride itself. If you happen to be a vegan chef, PLEASE sign up for kitchen crew since I want to eat well during the ride. :-)
  • Join the ride as a volunteer! The Ride needs volunteers for everything from office work and newsletter production to (what else?) fundraising.
  • If you would like more information about the ride, you may call the Ride Office at (415) 908-0400.
